Application of ATA-2161 High Voltage Amplifier in Lossless Transportation

Experiment name:

Field wettability gradient drives droplets to achieve non-destructive transportation on super-lubricated surfaces.

Experiment content:

Introduce a field wettability gradient on a flat super-lubricated surface. By printing the radial interdigital electrode array, the electric field can be patterned to generate a wettability gradient to achieve the directional transportation of droplets. Theoretical analysis and experimental results show that the transportation behavior of droplets can be evaluated by the dimensionless electric Bond constant, and the  super-lubricated surface can transport various types of droplets without damage.

Testing purposes:

The droplet transportation mentioned in the experiment can be applied and developed in heat transfer, anti-pollution, microfluidics, and biochemical analysis.

Test Equipment:

Electrode substrate, signal generator DG1032, high-voltage amplifier ATA-2161, optical goniometer, optical microscope, PTFE film, high-speed camera.

experiment procedure:

       (1) Cover the patterned electrode substrate with a layer of super-lubricant film to prepare experimental samples ((a-c) in Figure 1);

(2) Connect the voltage signal source output from the signal generator and high-voltage amplifier to the positive and negative electrodes ((d) in Figure 1);

 (3)After the electrode substrate is applied with DC or AC voltage, the radial interdigital design of the electrode can generate a gradient of electric field intensity, thereby causing a gradient of wettability and achieving droplet transportation.

Test Results:

Realize the directional transportation of droplets; related applications for directional transportation of droplets, such as the collection of organic micro-droplets (Figure 2a), dust cleaning during droplet transportation (Figure 2b), and transportation of liquids in an oil phase environment Drops (Figure 2c).

The effect of the high-voltage amplifier in this experiment:

Provide a voltage signal with adjustable frequency and amplitude for the experiment.
